Best Auckland Wedding Venues

Auckland boasts many wonderful and differing options for wedding venues and I have been able to photograph plenty of amazing weddings at many of them. Here’s a selection of a few of my favourite Auckland wedding venues which might help you decide for your own wedding.

The Officer's Mess - Fort Takapuna

Easily having one of the best views in Auckland, The Officer's Mess is nestled upon a cliff top at Narrow Neck Beach between Takapuna and Devonport on Auckland's North Shore. The main ceremony area looks out towards the Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto Island right behind. The reception venue is a class 1 heritage building which has been lovingly restored with modern features to accommodate up to 160 seated guests.

The mccallum residence

Nestled in a secluded setting, this hidden gem has long been a cherished family secret. However, the owners have recently made the delightful decision to unveil its splendor and extend an invitation to guests, offering them the opportunity to embark on an elegantly nostalgic journey through time. The Hunting Lodge

The Hunting Lodge is located on the fringe of the Kumeu wine region in Waimauku, approx 33km north of the Auckland CBD. The Hunting Lodge boasts several different ceremony locations including in front of the contemporary black barn, next to the vineyards or under the awning beside the barn for a wet weather option. The grounds around the estate feature so many different locations for photos on site, plus it’s just a 15-20 min drive down the road to Muriwai Beach. There is a lovingly restored vintage caravan named Jerry on site ready to keep your guests refreshed as they enter the barn for reception which can seat up to 250 guests.

Kumeu Valley Estate

Kumeu Valley Estate is another gem in the Kumeu wine region. There are multiple ceremony options outside and during the spring months you can take advantage of the stunning Cherry Blossoms in full flight. The rainy day option is covered with a cozy spot set in front of a fireplace which also makes it great for winter weddings. This rustic venue also provides plenty of great photo options on-site plus the forest just a short drive away.

Kauri Bay Boomrock

One of Auckland’s premier wedding venues, Kauri Bay Boomrock is located in Clevedon. Situated on top of a hill, the venue boasts stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and water. Impress your guests by arriving via helicopter or enjoy the morning with some clay-bird shooting. There are plenty of photo locations on site including one the best sunset spots in Auckland with 360 deg round views.

Mudbrick

Mudbrick Estate is an overseas wedding venue that you don’t need to flash your passport for. Situated on the beautiful Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf, Mudbrick has it all, rolling hills, sweeping panoramic views and onsite accommodation amongst the luscious vineyards. The gorgeous rustic atmosphere of the main restaurant oozes class and the high end vibes come with high end food to match.

Morningside Glasshouse

Glasshouse in Morningside is a new space on the Auckland wedding scene and a great option for those wanting to hold their wedding close to the Auckland CBD. The Glasshouse is filled with natural sunlight thanks to the high glass roof with plenty of lush greenery surrounding the space. More information on their website here

Bracu

The Bracu pavillion is located on the Simunovich Olive Estate just over 30mins south of Auckland’s CBD. The main wedding ceremony location provides shelter from the sun or rain and does not compromise on style or elegance. The mature olive groves provide a great option for photographs but the show stopper is at sunset when you take a trip to the top of the hill to catch the last of the sun and be rewarded with some golden light. Nocton Woolshed

Nocton Woolshed is situated in Clevedon, just a short drive from Auckland. The main venue is a converted shearing shed transformed into a rustic space with plenty of opportunity to add your taste and styling to it. The outdoor ceremony area boasts magical views of the Hauraki Gulf and Clevedon River Valley and you can drive or walk up to the top of the hill for sunset photos. More info here.

Bridgewater Estate

Set on 16 acres of land with lush green lawns, mature trees, native bush and landscaped gardens. With a brand new ceremony location set amongst natural forest, tennis court, pool, a dedicated bridal suite and chalet accommodation, Bridgewater Estate which is situated nearby to Kaukapakapa and Helensville, is the perfect location for your wedding.

Allely Estate

Allely Estate is another gem in he Kumeu wine region. There are multiple options for outside ceremonies amongst the lush manicured gardens, as well as options for indoor ceremonies inside the historic villa or huge onsite marquee. Allely Estate can accommodate up to 400+ guests for those couples with a swag of friends and family.

Little Wilderness

Little Wilderness is one of the newer venues in the Kumeu region. Situated in natural bushland with a nearby waterfall and stream, this venue provides several options indoor and outdoor with the eco-conscious in mind. Add your own touch to make it uniquely yours. Check them out here

Abel Estate

(formerly Gracehill)

Abel Estate is located in Kumeu, northwest of Auckland CBD. The main ceremony spot outdoors centres around the cute gazebo beside the lake. The Lake View room in the main building can seat up to 100 guests and the Vineyard room which is also the dance floor and indoor ceremony option can seat 30 guests for smaller intimate weddings.
