Backyard wedding // Kiran + Garalynne

Who doesn’t love a good backyard wedding? They’re always unique and when you have gorgeous rolling vistas on your doorstep - why wouldn’t you?

Creative couple Kiran and Garalynne are DIY superstars, the effort and commitment to their special day was evident in all the personal touches throughout their ceremony and guest’s entertainment.

Kiran built an adorable mini golf course for their guests to enjoy after the ceremony, each hole a nod to the couples’ heritage or background. The clever groom also built a stunning four poster arch for the ceremony and the pair designed and printed their invitations, created all floral arrangements and styled their gorgeous day themselves. Garalynne’s talented mum designed and made her wedding gown and also made the wedding cakes (yes you read that right- cakes!).

Their ceremony began with a traditional Bharat, a beautiful custom where the groom travels to bride’s house accompanied by his family members. The colourful ceremony that followed was filled with love, laughter and of course happy tears. The couple's beloved pooches, Hazel and Albie, were part of the action every step of the way.

The reception saw the gathering moved to the trendy Ampersand Eatery in Auckland’s Orakei Basin, where guests were treated to cocktails and a cake at every table! The night went on with hilarious and heartfelt speeches, followed by some serious D-floor shredding.
